Philadelphia STYLE Magazine readers voted Avalon, New Jersey "Best Shore Town" in the July/August issue. One of the contributing factors was Avalon's pristine beaches.
The Washingtonian voted Avalon's beaches the best in New Jersey because of it's safe swimming, gentle surf, natural dunes, and wide beach. We also have a great boardwalk that runs from 21st st to 32nd perfect for morning and evening strolls.

Avalon's Beaches are easily accesible for anyone who is physically challenged. "Surf Chairs" which are designed to manipulate easily in sand can be found at the Lifeguard Station (32nd and Avalon Ave.) 967-7587 during the summer months and at the community hall (30th and Avalon Ave.) 967-3066 during the off season. Please call ahead to reserve a chair. SURF CHAIR RESERVATION HOURS: Daily (summer): 10:00 am - 1:30 pm or 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm Monday - Saturday (quiet season)

Beach tags are required at all Avalon Beaches. They can be purchased at the booth next to community hall. Tags are required between 10:00am and 5:00pm June 1 through Sept 5. Anyone 12yrs or older is required to wear a tag.
Seasonal Tags Cost $15 Before May 1st and $20 after May 1st.
Weekly Tags Cost $10
Daily Tags Cost $5

Lifegaurds are on duty from 10:00am to 5:00pm seven days a week. Any bathing that is done during these hours must be done at designated stands.

Beach Conduct Picnicking on the beach is permitted. However, please place refuse in trash and in recycling containers. It is illegal to litter. Fires, alcoholic beverage, bottles, glass, sharp objects, loud Petsnoise, indecent language, or actions are STRICTLY PROHIBITED. No sleeping on the beach or boardwalk from sunset to sunrise. Trespassing on the dunes and in areas posted for endangered Beach Nesting Birds is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Please use the paths provided. |
