| Cape May County Home Prices Rise 5.2% in Fourth Quarter of 2008 Avalon Borough Sues NJDEP May 14th Avalon NJ officials have elected to sue the NJDEP for their lack of response to our dire need of beach replenishment. The above link explains in detail the ridiculous reasons the State has refused us funding to the much needed dredging project. The letter was written by our very proactive Mayor Martin Pagliughi who should receive a much deserved pat on the back for taking a stance against the state of New Jersey. Dredging Project Please be advised that Avalon anticipates awarding a contract to Weeks Marine, Inc. to complete the dredging and placement of 350,000 cubic yards of sand on the Boroughs beaches between The Borough is requesting that realtors assist the Borough by advising property owners that would be impacted by this effort. The Borough will make further public announcements upon award of the contract. Please be advised that it is possible that the work will continue into May 2006, but it is anticipated that it will be completed well in advance of Memorial Day weekend. In addition, the Borough has recently awarded a contract for the mechanical transport of approximately 60,000 cubic yards of sand, via trucks, from the Boroughs southerly beaches to the beaches between 18th and 24th Streets. This project is expected to begin in February and continue through March. |
